A brief summary

Born 1992 in a small village in Saarland, Germany. Briefly lived in a convent dorm in Munich in 2008 to try my hand in the retail industry. Quickly decided to do a Technical Diploma in Design & Engineering instead — back home in Saarlouis.

Moved to North Rhine-Westphalia afterwards to study Photography Design at Fachhochschule Dortmund from 2013 to 2018, but never formally finished my bachelor’s degree. Co-managed a funky indoor minigolf course in lieu thereof, while freelancing as a photographer.

When the pandemic hit full force and the opportunity to do a restart arose, I became a carpentry apprentice and made a speedrun to my certificate in January 2023 — thus coming full circle with my rural DIY roots.

Now living in Essen with a partner of ten years and two big, cuddly cats.

Photography

After all, I am still a registered freelance photographer, so if you are interested in booking me, feel free to leave a message!

Bear in mind that I specialize in candid photography and will therefore go for a documentary style at weddings and other parties. If you want traditional family pictures with people smiling on command, you may want to look for someone else — no hard feelings!

Your photos will only be uploaded visible to the public eye at your explicit permission and approval of the chosen roll of pictures.

As an out and proud member of the LGBT* community I am explicitly „gay friendly“

I wish I did not have to make it a topic, but alas we are still met with conservative bigots everywhere we go, are we not? That is why I feel the need to explicitly point it out. It scares the wrong people off and makes the right ones stay. If it is what you came here looking for: I would love to log your non-cishet wedding by camera!

Furniture Design

I „designed“ my first piece of furniture when I saw creative people recycling old scaffolding planks on social media mid pandemic. It seemed easy enough, so I scavenged classifieds for used planks and some of those trendy metal frames or table legs for cheap. I did it all in the work in the patio of an apartment block!

Then when my partner and I moved, we decided to build our own four poster bed frame with the help of a DIY plan and through I threw out my back (ouch) at one point, it turned out neat and very comfortable. Furthermore, I started planning and sketching all kinds of intelligent furniture solutions to fit our rented apartment, oftentimes using pre-existing elements, e.g. from the big Swedish manufacturer.

So, when I discovered an opportunity to become a certified carpenter at nearly 30 years of age, without having to survive on a measly apprentice wage for three years, I was thrilled!

These days I sketch my ideas by hand, then model them as solid 3D objects and finally create the technical drawings that function as universal building plans.
